As a CNC Applications Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Applications Engineering team while ensuring exceptional customer support throughout the pre-sale and post-sale process. This role will oversee customer-facing engineering activities, turnkey projects, machine demonstrations, technical training, and project execution. The CNC Applications Engineering Manager will serve as a key liaison between customers, sales, service, and engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations.
What You Will Contribute:
Managing, mentoring, and developing the Applications Engineering team to ensure high performance, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
Overseeing team workload, project assignments, priorities, and timelines to ensure successful completion of customer projects and demonstrations
Partnering closely with Sales, Service, and Leadership teams to support revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and strategic business objectives
Managing the pre-sale process including customer visits, opportunity evaluations, machine assessments, application reviews, technical recommendations, and turnkey proposal development
Leading post-sale activities including project execution, customer onboarding, training coordination, troubleshooting support, and follow-up to ensure customer success
Overseeing turnkey projects, demonstrations, and other customer-related projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget
Serving as a technical expert and customer liaison for CNC machining centers, lathes, grinders, Swiss style lathes, and multi-tasking machines
Supporting the team in developing and implementing custom demonstrations and customer training programs for the safe set up and operation of machine tools
Reviewing and approving cost estimates, engineering reports, technical documentation, and project proposals
Assisting with escalated technical issues and helping the team identify creative and effective solutions for customers
Monitoring project performance, customer satisfaction, and team productivity metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement
Conducting employee performance reviews, coaching, disciplinary actions, and other traditional management responsibilities
Participating in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training of Applications Engineering team members
Traveling to customer sites for onsite support, project reviews, training, and engineering assistance as needed

Qualifications and Competencies:
Experience in Sliding Headstock (Swiss) CNC machine tool related engineering and manufacturing
Prior leadership or management experience in applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, CNC operations, or related technical environments
Strong understanding of customer-facing engineering processes, including both pre-sale and post-sale support
Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company
Knowledge of Fanuc based controls, 5-axis experience is a plus
Experience with CAD/CAM software, preferred but not required
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, deadlines, and customer expectations in a fast-paced environment
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Able to think quickly, assess a situation, and make a sound decision
